The FSF and GNU project tend to get bent out of shape about what "free" means. Heck, they have an essay that goes on for six pages about it. However, they use ``proper quotes'' so it's probably best to simply ignore all of that crap. They do make a couple of good points, though.
- There's three kinds of "free": free as in beer, free as in speech, and free as in mallocs.
- Give people free speech, and they can discuss beer brewing techniques. They will then be able to make their own beer.
- Give people free beer, and they will slur their speech.
- Give people free mallocs, and they will lose their beer.
